Colleagues:  United we stand, divided we fall.
July 1, 2006

The World Cup, the movie Cars, and the Saatchi gallery are three disparate entities which have coalesced in the past twenty-four hours to help me reevaluate my competitive nature.  While I embrace competition, I find my objectivity gets clouded as I increasingly default to my American operating system.
Where I would like to redirect my energy is to tap into the magic of camaraderie.  I look at the catalyst that the World Cup can be to unite a country, region or continent.  I commend the job Pixar did in conveying the importance mentoring can be to achieving greatness.  I really appreciate the community Charles Saatchi has created on his web site (http://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/yourgallery/) for artists to share.  What all of these have in common is relying on unity to take the individual and collective as far as they can.  Rather than focusing on waves, perhaps I would be better served to concentrate on tides.
